A SHIP IN THE WOODS presents, GREY MATTER, an intimate day retreat and public art/music event in the evening. GREY MATTER discusses the impetus of stress, challenges and disconnection. Alternatively it unveils ideas on how we can overcome and champion a peaceful state of mind.

1:00 - 4:00 pm
During the day A SHIP IN THE WOODS presents a retreat, Julie Potiker author of the book, “Life Falls Apart, But You Don't Have To” will present current mindfulness techniques and more that have been proven to help improve ones outlook. In addition, an Internal Martial Arts practice from China will be taught by Yunuen Rhi. The Baguazhang system applies Ying Yang philosophy to a martial body movement practice. It harnesses wisdom from Taoist and Buddhist principles dating back to the founder of Shaolin Kung Fu and Zen Buddhism. It is a powerful tool to combat emotional and body ailments because it teaches how to fight with a full spirit.. This retreat includes healthy food and drinks. During this day event the audience can reconnect to others as they continue their own journey with a new resolution for the new year.

7:00 - 10:00, pm
A SHIP IN THE WOODS will present an event that includes music and  immersive art. The art exhibits illuminate the neuroscience which examines how mindfulness and other techniques positively affect the grey matter in our brain. Studies show that by increasing grey matter, we can change our focus, attention and over all health. The audience is invited to explore interactive installations, experience nature, the winding paths, and sounds of Oak Creek, while being an observer of their present state of mind.  Over 25 artists will be showing their work  that ranges from olfactory exhibits, interactive performances and walk-in immersive installations to light and sound experiences.  WSIPGRL and NITLAPSE will be rescheduled for another event due to the flux in the weather.
